Canstruction is an international hunger relief charity that raises millions of pounds of food each year for local food banks. For the first time CanArt® has been created with hundreds of donated cans of food at the Patchogue-Medford Library with the support of many local organizations. Those supporting the project include: the Patchogue-Medford Library, the Greater Patchogue Foundation, Chase Bank, United Way, the Village of Patchogue, Hemschick Silverman Architects, P.C., the Patchogue Arts Council. The Fifth Grade Students at Eagle Elementary School, the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County and the United Way of Long Island built the CanArt® sculptures which will be on display at the Patchogue-Medford Library and Chase Bank from November 19th through November 29th. When the structures come down, the cans will be donated to Angels of Long Island for Giving Tuesday (November 29th) to be distributed to the needy.
