Conservation Tree Committee
The Village of Patchogue's Conservation Tree Committee was formed for the purpose of managing the village's urban forest in conjunction with the Department of Public Works. The committee meets quarterly to evaluate current conditions and make plans for future planting and maintenance. It conducts educational outreach and holds an Arbor Day Ceremony and Planting each year in April.
In 2022, due to the committee's efforts, the village was awarded a Fast Start Grant from the Arbor Day Foundation that helped to fund a tree planting project on Bay Ave adjacent to the Parks & Recreation building at 380 Bay Ave. In 2023 they planted additional trees on the site. The Village was recognized as a Tree City USA for 2022.
