The Village of Patchogue, with a population of 11,500, is located on the Great South Bay, app. 50 miles from Manhattan and app. 60 miles from Montauk Point. The general border lines of Patchogue Village are Blue Point on the West, Roe Blvd on the North, Bay Avenue on the East and the Great South Bay on the South.
The Village government consists of a Mayor and six Trustees. Each position serves a four (4) year term and elections are held every two (2) years unless a special election is required for a replacement position. The Village Justice is also a four (4) year term. As an Incorporated Village the Village of Patchogue also has its own Planning, Zoning and Architectural Review Board. These boards are designed to help streamline the development process for new homes and business’ to further serve the residents and business owners the Village also has its own Building and Housing Department. We have one of the finest downtown shopping districts on Long Island. In addition to the fine mix of retail stores, there are fine restaurants, banking facilities, professional offices to serve people from all walks of life. Patchogue is proud of its Chamber of Commerce that is very active and productive for the community's benefit. The three major service clubs - Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary are very supportive to community needs and meet in local restaurants. Other community organizations such as fraternal, military veterans, charitable, etc. are a vital part of the community The Patchogue Theatre is a 1200 seat theatre built in 1921 as a vaudeville house and in 2000 was renovated back to its original glory and is one of the finest performing arts centers on the East Coast. The Theatre is a hallmark of our community and serves as a destination point for many folks all over Long Island. We are very proud of our shorefront and riverfront that present much activity. The Patchogue River is one of the largest and finest on Long Island and accommodates numerous private yachts and small craft as well as commercial vessels. There are many fine restaurants and marinas that service the entire region. The Fire Island National Sea Shore is headquartered in our Village where ferry services are provided to Watch Hill on Fire Island. Ferry service is also provided to Davis Park on Fire Island. Patchogue is a transportation hub with the Long Island Railroad, Suffolk County Bus Service, Ferry Service to Fire Island, connections to all major highways and a major regional airport just minutes away at McArthur Airport; all with easy access to our downtown.
